I start working in a public accounting firm next month and I wanted to master excel before going in as an audit associate. Does anyone know any good online excel courses/tutorials that can possibly prepare me in excel before I start working next month? Thanks.

someone on here directed me to lynda.com

i was seeking info on quickbooks, but it appears they have info on excel as well. i think it's 25 per month, cancel any time.

I'm curious too if there are other excel resources.

There are lots of them on youtube that are free, I prefer to pay to get a deeper understanding of the courses. Currently I'm using the following websites for excel training.

Myredstapler is right, pivots and lookups are great skills to have. My advise to you is this: If you feel like something is taking too long, there is definetly a faster way. Do a quick google search and you will find something golden. Good luck!

I am an aspiring excel nerd also and found a cool feature called “index+match” that I didn't know about on this website:

Chandoo is a fantastic resource. Myredstapler is correct – Vlookup and pivots are pretty huge.

Honestly, when I was in public, the average excel skill level l was significantly lower than it was in the industry jobs I've had since then. Master the basics – learn what you need to as you go. You'll be fine.

Index and match are really interesting and good to know, it alternates VLOOKUP to a greater degree, I just don't like it when both index and match are put together. Thats too much formulas and processes to memorize:( I'm still working on it.

Macros is gradually becoming interesting for me.

@stoleway – index match is my favorite formula ever. You don't run accross many people who know about it so it's cool to hear you bring it up!

A good one to use is combining multiple sumproduct formulas so you can sum by multiple criteria. Has made my life so much easier.

Personally I suggest you search youtube tutorials, watch a basic one, watch a vlookup one and watch a pivot table one and you'll be good to go, that's all you'll need.
