Entry salary range – shot myself in foot?

They never really taught you about salaries in college do they? Yes we all know about national averages but obviously it’s more beneficial to look at the city’s average and consider cost of living of the area as well.

That’s what I attempted to do when I gave them a figure of 44,000-48,000 which seems good for a small sized city. I mean, Denver is 51,000 on average for starting staff accountant.

Anyways, I’ve gotten an offer for 48,000, the max in my range and I thought to myself, “Could I have actually asked for more?” Or, they really like me and the average competitive salary is lower. Who knows.

Figuring in 200 hours of estimated required OT, that’s 21.00/hour. Have anyone gone through this type of experience?
