I’m looking for some advice regarding my career path. Ideally, I’d rather not work in public accounting. So far, I’ve had no luck finding an entry-level position in private nor in public, though. My educational background is: BS in Accounting (2013), MBA/Finance partially complete, CPA substantially complete. My work experience consists of 2-3 years of experience from two accounting internships at two F500 companies and experience with preparing individual taxes. I thought after this last internship that I’d have an easier time finding a job, but I’m not. I actually just got rejected for the 5th time at the very company I just interned at.
Most of my experience is in taxes – both at the individual and corporate level. I hear transitioning from tax is challenging for people with years of FT tax experience, so is this partially my struggle finding a staff accountant or even a FA position in private and public at the entry level? Do companies even value the experience for other positions? I’m frustrated and even considered re-enrolling in my MBA program (I was hoping to finish when I got more FT experience), so I can apply to internships for more work experience.
Passed all sections.
