Hello I m Jay a CPA candidate from Maryland. I have a Bachelors in Business and a MSA in Accounting. Sitting for the CPA this year. I have Government accounting experience and I am looking to break into public accounting, first to gain experience, then to meet the hours required by the state to get your license. Any suggestion or best approach in getting a job.

    Thanks

The best way to get into public accounting is through your Master's program. My situation was a little different since I did not get recruited out of my school because it was not a top tier school. I am in industry right now and am planning on entering public accounting upon certification. My GPA is not good enough for them to even consider me…so I decided that a CPA license will trump my bad GPA ALL DAY!!

So my advice to you would be to pass all of the sections and apply for jobs once you have passed a couple sections of the exam. It will be much much harder to sit for the exams when you are working 60 hours a week.

Going to enjoy some of the summer and retake both in August since my clock hasn't started ticking yet.
