I passed both FAR and AUD on my first attempt and am planning to take REG at the end of October. I’m sort of thinking about trying to fit BEC in at the end of November and am just not sure if I have the time to study enough. My BF suggested going for it with the worst thing being I don’t pass and have to retake in Janauary (assuming I pass REG..ugh). My question is does passing all four exams the first time around give an advantage in the job market? I’d love to be done before the holidays but I’m not sure if it’s worth the risk.

    FAR 5/23/11 76
    AUD 8/8/11 97
    REG 10/25/11 83
    BEC 11/30/11 81

no advantage at all. A pass is a pass no matter how many times or what the score was. I am personally banging mine out to get this over with. Hoping that I can finish and pass because I really want to celebrate my husband's bday in FEB

    FAR 76
    REG 76(2x)
    BEC FAILED (2x)
    AUD FAILED (2x)

I have to agree with gottagetmycpa. Out in the world, a CPA is a CPA is a CPA. There is absolutely no distinction in the CPA who passed all 4 sections on their first attempt, or the CPA who finally passed after years of coming up short. Likewise, no distinction between the candidate who scores nothing but 99 and the one who squeaked by with a 75.

Just do what you have to do to pass within 18 months–that's ALL that matters.

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 88
    REG - 87
    FAR - 86 - Woot, all done!
    Ethics - 100

There is no employment advantage to passing the exams on the first try, or to getting higher scores. A pass is a pass, and a CPA is a CPA, nothing else matters.

Btw, you can do BEC in a month, especially if you dont have many other time committments.

If you work in public accounting where there are many CPAs and many trying to pass the CPA, the topic comes up, but it is seen more as friendy competition and doesn't really carry much weight.

Thanks for all the responses… I'm going to go ahead and take BEC at the end of November. It will be great if I pass and, if not, there is always Jan/Feb.

tbstew…lol, as you can see, I've done both the squeak by score and a high score and I was thrilled with both!!! And I felt equally prepared (unprepared) for both so go figure.

    FAR 5/23/11 76
    AUD 8/8/11 97
    REG 10/25/11 83
    BEC 11/30/11 81

Think of it as “mental peace” advantage, in that you'll find life to be a lot more pleasant when this is all over.

    Couldn't pass again!

LOL, don't jinx yourself. However, I never heard of a company asking anyone if they passed all the first time. CPA is a CPA; however, universities seem to be a big criteria if you do not have your CPA.

    AUD - Passed:)
    FAR - Passed:)
    REG - Retake TBD
BEC - Missed by 3 points Retake TBD
