In short, I have an accounting degree with work experience in finance/accounting and plan on becoming a CPA. I am getting an MBA from a top 25 school with a concentration in corporate finance and was considering adding an additional concentration in tax. Assuming I pass the CPA exam and become licensed, do you think that sitting through hours and hours of tax courses is even worth it?

Are you thinking to take those tax classes so that it would help you pass the CPA exam (REG section)? If so, I wouldn't bother taking them…I pretty much learned everything about tax from Becker.

Depends on your career goals. I have a Master of Taxation and with the program at my school I am prepared to work in either Audit or Tax. (Obviously I would prefer tax). I think additional tax knowledge gives you an edge but if you're just planning to stay with your current employer you probably don't need that.
