I open up my work e-mail to see what’s cooking for tomorrow and find this from my boss:

Sorry, I forgot that you won’t be here today. Good luck on the exam. If you have any questions during the exam and you want to give me a call, feel free. I took the exam 31 years ago but I remember everything like it was yesterday.

wtf? hahahha..just thought it was funny…

Back in the paper and pencil days you say for all 4 parts in 2 days but you had to pass at least 2 to get any credit.

Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
    AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
    BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!

Yes. “Back in the day” you could pass 3 of the 4, and if your scores were high enough, get credit for the failed 4th section, and be considered all passed. This happened to a baby boomer boss of mine from several jobs ago, who is pretty much eligible for Medicare these days.

The material is simply getting more voluminous. I didn't take it when there was IFRS, and there were no such things as derivatives in those “3 out of 4” days.

    Couldn't pass again!
