I open up my work e-mail to see what’s cooking for tomorrow and find this from my boss:

Sorry, I forgot that you wonโ€™t be here today. Good luck on the exam. If you have any questions during the exam and you want to give me a call, feel free. I took the exam 31 years ago but I remember everything like it was yesterday.

wtf? hahahha..just thought it was funny…

@CPATerminator hahaha my friends dad (he's like 64 or something) is a CPA and he will not say ONE word about the test, NOTHING, wont even let me open my mouth because of the rules. I tried to tell him I was taking it on the 19th and he was like, ” THATS ENOUGH!!” hahaha not sure if hes being serious or what but just reminded me kinda of your situation.

@CPAterminator – I know what you mean. My boss passed the exam in 1969! I was 2 months old when he got his license. When I first started taking the exam, he gave me grief about how he had to do it in 2 1/2 days and how “easy” I had it. This rocked on until I told him to take a practice exam on Wiley. He failed. He rarely ever says anything about the exam being “easy” any more. When he does, I remind him that he took the exam when there were 12 Accounting Standards and FASB hadn't even been invented. He just shakes his head and says “I'm just glad I don't have to take that test ever again!” He's funny about it all. That Wiley practice test really opened his eyes. LOL

Lol I go through all that “easy nowadays” nonsense with my boss. We have a pending bet where I need to pull some select questions from Wiley and based on how well he does someone will owe the other a beer. I know he won't stand a chance as soon as I get around to selecting the questions. After I passed FAR he says… You only sat for FAR after all that studying? I sat for the whole thing in 3 days blah blah blah. So now he gets a sample choice of FAR that I select. He's done for.

@mdrobbin – make sure you put in a few pension benefit obligation, IFRS, and present value calculations when you pick the questions and keep me posted!

The exam environment/test day was more strenuous back then but the actual exam itself today covers more material and is more difficult.

I started taking the exam in 2002. You were placed in a big room (I took it at the convention center) with crappy tables. It was a 2 day event the first week of May and November. Then you waited forever for the results. It was on scantron and essay paper. I really like the computer system better now. I like the idea of how you can take it at anytime. It was really physically demanding back then. Kricket had a taste of that when she just sat for REG and FAR.

Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
    AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
    BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!

@mdrobbin, I heard that even though they had to sit for the entire exam in one day, they only had to pass 50% of it. Anyone know if there's any truth to that?
