I work at a small CPA firm of about 50 people. It’s my first season and I’m amazed at how crazy the hours are. I think I heard someone say that their firm paid a bonus at the end of tax season. Is this typical? How big of a bonus is it?
I live in a big town/very small city in West Texas, so at 10 people, my firm is “big.” (Praying for my hubby to finish his PhD soon so we can move to a big city!) My firm did not give me a bonus, but everyone is evaluated for raises at the end of tax season, and my boss gave me a HUGE raise after my first tax season last year. (To be fair, they paid me peanuts to start with, so now I am being paid what I deserve.)

At our firm, we technically don't get a bonus at the end, but we get paid time and a half for every hour of overtime we work which REALLY adds up. And instead of getting one big bonus at the end, we get our overtime pay at each normal pay period. Ends up being a nice, extra amount of money.
