I only have experience working for national public accounting firm. I practice tax, and I see there are some openings in business management firm. Can anyone tell me how the culture/work/schedule are like in business management firm? I want to know if they work as a team (manager, senior, staff etc), any busy season, and if salary is comparable to public accounting firm.
    Please advise! thanks

Will you be in the Tax Department of the Business Management Firm? Where are you located?

I work for a Business Management Firm, in NYC, in their Tax Department. It is essentially like working in public accounting. I prepare tax returns and handle related issues (responding to notices, etc.). There are busy seasons (Feb-April and Aug-Oct), but for me weekends aren't required and there is no minimum requirement for OT. Salary and Benefits, at least for me, are better than in Public. Since working weekends is not a requirement I recently started my own tax prep firm and I bill at $50-$100/hr. I've made almost 4months salary just working weekends (feb-apr). Not sure about the particular firms you're looking at but year end bonuses are way better than public bonuses. Depending on who the firm Manages you may also get opportunities to meet Celebrities, Artist, Musicians, etc. Good Luck!
