Curious what type of working experience does everyone have?

I have about 5-6 years public accounting experience and currently at a smaller firm part-time while I complete the exam. The staff is great and we have great clients. In my interview they mentioned they look forward to possibly having me become partner in the next year or two once I complete the exam.

So I’m curious, what type of experience does everyone have and would you be willing to relocate out of town/state for a job? Thought it would be cool to recruit from this site considering all the potential new CPAs.

Jeff, have you considered adding a recruiting aspect to your NINJA business? Could be a cool idea to build relationships with smaller and even large firms.

*Note: I am not currently looking to hire, just interested in the idea and possibility.

Hey, I have no work experience but I'm looking for an entry level accounting job. Preferably audit. Where is your firm located? I'm in California.

Not looking to relocate which is part of the challenge for me. “Old” new CPA looking for public accounting after many years in private industry. Would be great if another71 had a job search board.

    My job history (chronological) is:
1 year tax/bookkeeping at a micro firm (owner, 1 full-time employee aka me, and 1 part-time through busy season)
1 year entry-level industry (A/R) in fairly large company (services many F500 companies, about 14,000 employees, multi-national business)
Now going on 2 years as Controller at a small (approx 1,000 students) college

I wouldn't want to relocate for a job, though we have discussed moving in the future, but it would be a “Hey, let's move to Arizona, so I'm looking for a job in Arizona”, not a “Hey, where's a good job? Oh, there's one in Arizona? Guess we're moving to Arizona”. I grew up moving frequently to follow Dad's job, and now that moving is (1/2) my decision, I'm not keen on doing it just for work. So, if I couldn't get a job without moving I would of course move, but I'm far more interested in remote work than in relocation-required work (and for now quite happy with the job I have). But, there are non-job reasons that I'd consider moving, more likely though that wouldn't happen while the local elderly family members were still alive (so hopefully won't be able to happen anytime soon 😛 ).

Right not I am working for a large retailer company doing very simple accounting stuff. It's a great time for me to take the CPA since my job isn't very demanding at the time. My manager is a CPA so I will still be able to use this as my 1 year experience so that's a plus.

3 years internal audit at a large public university. It's a great gig with plenty of challenges. Kind of hard to think of going somewhere else.
