I know everyone’s experience is different, but I thought I’d share something for those struggling with the exam, and maybe even wondering if all this is worth it. I haven’t even finished yet, and it already become WELL worth it.
I work for Goodwill (not exactly “public accounting”!). I just recently passed REG, which puts just one section from my license. Today I was promoted at my job from a $44k position to a $60k position, with additional compensation to come once I pass the exam and get my license. This is a position previously held by a CPA/MBA.
My point is this – they would probably never even have considered me for the position if I wasn’t successfully going for my CPA. Obviously not everyone will reap immediate (or even early) rewards for tackling the CPA, but sooner or later it will pay off. Maybe even sooner than you ever imagined!
So good luck, everyone. Keep on hammering out those lectures/chapters/MCQs/SIMs/notes. All those weary and hopeless moments will eventually be worth it.
