I’m a stay at home dad and also a CPA. I was wondering, what is the easiest job you can think of using your CPA license. It’s not so important that it make a lot of money, but it does need to be acomplishable from home or a few hours at the office. It seems silly that I put in all this time and money to get a professional license and now I can’t find a good way to work from home.

A possible example would be overseeing the work of a CPA in training, or maybe working as an online instructor for a CPA exam course.

In the DC area where I live going through recruiters is a very common practice to get into a CPA firm. You don't pay them a dime, the company that hires you pays the recuiter.

I would work with one, and my guess is maybe a contractor position during Jan to April ? Maybe 1 day in office to grab files, talk to managers, etc.., and rest of it from home.

We had a CPA woman who did this she was in her 50's. Worked out well it seemed.

do you have tax experience? I bet you can find a CPA firm that is looking for someone to prep/review returns if you have the right experience. I have 3 of my staff that work remotely, one in another state and two in different outlying cities that commute to the office once a week or every other week. If you find a firm that is properly embracing technology and the tools out there you should be able to work remotely seamlessly.

The federal government has embraced telework. Google USAJOBS for the government jobs site and you can use keywords virtual and telework to find jobs in the area of budget, audit, finance, accounting and more.

If it were me I would try doing some tax prep from home. You may be able to find a small CPA firm that will contract work out to you. Otherwise if you are qualified you could do adjunct staff work for online university. The uni I went to used adjunct faculty often, many of my accounting professors had other jobs in industry, etc. and did the uni thing on the side.
