I am attending a career fair Wednesday, is just a resume sufficient or should I have a cover letter to hand potential employers as well? Can the cover letter be general or should it be specific to each employer? Any input is appreciated! Thank you.

Resumes are sufficient. Cover letters should be turned in when you're actually applying for the position, and they should be specific to the position/employer.

I don't think cover letters should ever be generic. Part of what I was taught to put in cover letters is why I'm interested in that specific company. For that reason, I would never take a cover letter to a career fair, because you may not know all of the employers who you're going to talk to. Good luck!
