Any suggestions for how to write an amazing cover letter for a job that I’m not totally qualified for? The ad asks for someone with 2 years of experience in public accounting, which I don’t have… I’ve been working at a not for profit. But this job is in a perfect location, perfect firm size, exactly where I want to work.

All help is greatly appreciated. I’m terrible at cover letters.

    Finished!!

I've been in a similar situation. I applied to a job seeking 3-5 years of public accounting experience and I had only 1.5 years. I would read the job description over and over looking for other key details that maybe you do have, instead of focusing on the one you don't. In the letter empasize the ways you ARE qualified. Sometime they just want the right person too. It is worth a try, as I got the job I applied for. Best advice for the cover letter is always make it firm specific and personal. Hope that helps!
