I met an old-school recruiter not too long ago. She asked genuine and relevant questions and let me do the talking. She had done her homework of selecting the best fits out of 500+ resumes based on her long-term experience of recruiting accounting professionals and didn’t waste any time in phone-screening 50 candidates devoting each a 10-minute slot.
Because those 10-minute conversations are useless. They concentrate on the negatives.
Their purpose is to eliminate, not select.
Everyone with a nonlinear background is doomed no matter their talent.
What is considered talented and high quality nowadays anyway? I used to know but not anymore.
