    To keep it short

I obtained my bachelors and masters from a top program and recently passed the cpa exam,

Now, after all this hard work, I am looking for a job but something happened yesterday that I realized today, a recruiter referred to me as a hot commodity. All this hard work, and I’m just a commodity, should people be referred as commodities? Should i take it as a compliment? It’s tough to get a job as it is and recruiters help but I feel insulted. What’s a71 take on this?

Don't take it personal. The recruiter was probably trying to say something to help you lighten up. Probably wasn't the best choice of words on his part.

However, at the same time, business is business. Your future employer really isn't going to care how hard you worked in school, they're going to care how much you're doing for their company. Having high education credentials means they'll assume you'll do a lot for them; doing a lot for them means you'll be valuable; therefore, in a way, you are a hot commodity. Take it as “You'll be easy to place” and hope they're right. All businesses are out for the most bang for your buck – the way to get hired is to show that you've got more buck-bang than others do. It's nothing personal; just business.
