Been in IT audit for about a year, had the first busy season and now going through what seems to be another round of it doing walkthroughs in a 2 person specialist team consisting of me and my senior on a MASSIVE client.

However, Ive been getting calls from the Federal side, in the analytics dept. I have excellent clientele lined up in commercial so the exposure to the industry is great, which may be good for my exit opportunity.

While for FED, I’m going to have to move to DC and most likely be stuck with one engagement for the rest of my life in the firm.
Another thing is next year, I think I’m almost guaranteed a senior promotion, but since the area I’m going into in Federal is new, I think it is going to get delayed a year or two (IT audit in my local office advance faster). Also concerned about exit opportunities.

What do you guys suggest for commercial vs FED? also for IT audit vs Analytics??
In all seriousness, IT audit IMHO is about as stupid as it gets, no intelligence whatsoever involved and the performance of your work is purely based off of what kind of dick you work with. at least in my firm.

Wondering if analytics is going to be any different.
I would appreciate any input.
