Hello,
To make the long story short, I’m currently working for a big corp., doing non-CPA work. I got an offer from a private company so here is a little breakdown..
Current – Fortune500, good name value, future opportunities within the organization, great working hours, benefits, and pay. I have been in my current position over a year. I feel like I’m doing pretty good right now but not sure when I would get a promotion and start doing CPA work (currently not getting my hours signed..)
New – private financial service company, relatively new company. great opportunity in terms of exposure to different accounting experiences because I will be involved with EVERYTHING from ARAP to financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis. they say that company is growing rapidly however it seems a bit unorganized and alot of clean up to do, which means I will probably work long hours. I will be reporting directly to a licensed CPA so I will get my hours signed.
in terms of compensation, private company offers a little higher salary but since my current company offers such an outstanding benefit package, it seems like I’m taking a small pay cut if I move. I’m afraid that leaving my current company after short period of time will leave a bad mark on my resume. It’s not like I hate my current job but I would love to be exposed to senior level accounting work and accelerate my career growth. I know there’s pros and cons to both and right now I can’t decide which option is better for me at this point.
I would really appreciate your advice.
