I passed all 4 parts to the CPA exam back in March (masters in accounting too) and just got recently got my first job in public accounting from CliftonLarsonAllen auditing charter schools. It was actually my first interviews (had multiples with them, of course) and I was very fortunate to land a job after meeting with the partners, especially after I heard it was really difficult to land an accounting position with no experience from others on here.
So, I have a couple of questions for you career accounting individuals:
1. I’ve never had any type of accounting experience so is public accounting the smart path? I heard in terms of accounting knowledge and career growth it is.
2. Auditing charter schools good exposure to accounting?
3. What else can I do to grow my career? Do I stay in public accounting forever? How long do I stay in public accounting, if not? What position should I target after?
4. What’s one thing(s) you wish you knew when starting your accounting career or had done?
5. Thoughts on CliftonLarsonAllen?
6. Those who worked in public accounting, how’d you like it?
