Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on the typical hiring process at Big 4 firms? Specifically, for someone who looking to start a career in public accounting after graduating from school with a Master’s in Accounting and obtaining a 3.9 GPA.
I currently have a position at a smaller company for a typical entry-level accounting job. However, I don’t have any public accounting experience and just applied for the CPA exam.
Recently, I have a had two interviews with larger national firms but neither have led to an offer. Both have said that there were candidates that had better/more qualified work experience that they went with for the position. I don’t have an audit internship or accounting internship under my belt and I wonder if that will stop me until I pass the CPA exam. So basically I am left with this, do I need to have my CPA exam done and completed before being taken more seriously for an audit staff role? Do I need to get experience in public accounting at a smaller local firm? Or should I consider an internship even though I graduated with my master’s already?
Appreciate you reading to this point and providing any insight you have don’t his topic.
