I recently became a CPA candidate in New York, but have not taken any exams yet. I currently work at a private company as a Staff Accountant. My boss is not a CPA, so I am currently trying to find a new job that can get me the experience required to become a CPA after I finish my exams. My current salary is 38k with no bonus. I have few questions regarding my search.
How do I mention the fact that I am looking for a position where I need to report to a CPA during a job interview?
What is a realistic pay that I should be looking for, and am I underpaid at my current position?
I would really like to work for a CPA firm, but I am only getting interviews for private companies. What can I do in my job search to get at least an interview with an accounting firm?
Thank you
