Canceling an interview after rescheduling? - Page 2

I’ve been interviewing around, after making the jump from public to private and realizing I HATE IT. I’ve had several interviews, and earlier this week had to reschedule one with BDO. Now I’ve received an offer I plan to accept, and don’t really need to hear from BDO because I don’t feel like they’d do anything that would sway my decision (the place I got the offer from is a five minute bike ride from my house, a VERY casual work environment, and willing to be flexible with my schedule and offer me the ability to work at home periodically – I don’t think I’m getting much better than that). I don’t want to burn bridges, but I don’t want to lead them on.

Now that I’ve rescheduled, do I just email the recruiter AGAIN and say something to the effect of “I am writing to withdraw myself from consideration” and hope they don’t put a big red mark in my file for any potential “next times”? Going through with the interview seems disingenuous at this point.

Like I said, I have no evidence beyond the rumor mill, but it doesn't sound that unfounded, so I'm not hanging around to collect evidence, frankly.

I'm pretty excited to quit. Like, giddy.

Because I hate interviewing, I would definitely just cancel if it's at least the day before… but hopefully a few days before!

Yeah just cancel, I actually got shot down by a bunch of firms early in my job search, so it was kinda fun turning them down for a change 😉

Here's what I sent in an email:

“It was nice to meet you and I want thank you for extending the opportunity to interview with your firm. However, I have since decided to pursue other interests.”

It was scheduled for Monday, and I just sent this:

“In the interest of saving everyone's time, I wanted to write to withdraw myself from consideration for the tax role at BDO Edina. I received an offer today which I have decided to accept and to continue with the interview on Monday would feel disingenuous.

Thank you both very much for your time and efforts, and for the consideration for the position. I wish you the best of luck finding the most suitable candidate, and perhaps our paths will cross again in future.”
