Hi everyone, so I completed my internship last summer with a regional public accounting firm and was given a full time offer with the choices starting either Fall 2017 or Fall 2018. This was a little bit of an issue for me because I was planning on graduating from my masters program in December 2017. I played it safe in choosing Fall 2018 because although it may have been possible to graduate in summer, my program only offers certain classes certain semesters and isn’t transparent about it so I didn’t want to to take the risk of not finishing in time and having my offer revoked. Plus, I was told they were going to try to move my start date up to January and if anything changed I could probably switch to Fall 2017. Well things have been going well, I’m knocking out the CPA exams and all the classes I need would be offered over summer so I could be ready to start Fall 2017. However, after reaching out to my firm, they said there was no longer any room for that start date and I would have to stay scheduled for fall 2018.. My current plan is to find a job/internship with a smaller firm or in private accounting until then, which wouldn’t be the end of the world I suppose. But is there anything I could possible do/say to try and get my start date changed or are firms typically this strict?

I have a related question. I am thinking about applying for summer internship through campus hire. If I am lucky to be hired, then, I will need to quit my current job. Nothing is great about my current job. But I like my co-workers and very flexible hours. I would like to work until I start a full-time job in public accounting firms. Is it too risky to apply for summer internship? What if I don't get any offer or I will need to start next year or later?

Summer internship will probability pay more and provide better experience. Plus all the intern activities. Internships are fun. Do that. Work is jsut work it will be another day over and over again. Internships are fun. BaCK TO AUDITING NOW.
