How long after your on campus interview were you notified about a second interview?

I had 2 interviews, both on a Monday.

one, I got a call back from the next day.

the other, I got rejected from on Friday.

For one I got rejected the same week. For another one I got invited to a second round a week later. One emailed me the next day of a second round. I'm still waiting on one that I interviewed with 2 weeks ago.

It is hard to know what to expect. I got rejected after a great interview and I got a second round after a mediocre interview.

Are firms not telling candidates when to expect to hear back from the firm after the first round of interviews? We give candidates a very specific window on when they will hear back from us and tell them what they can expect either way.

It seems prudent for firms to start informing candidates on when they can expect to hear something, and if the firm interviewer doesn't say it, then as a candidate, I would ask the question before leaving the interview.

They gave me timelines except for one. It is more along the lines of “by this time you will hear something” more than a specific date. I believe it is because they are interviewing at other schools before they determine who moves on.

I got my notification a week after it.

And I think firms generally do give a timeline for responses (all of mine did). but I agree with the above poster, it's more of a time frame they give. for mine, most of them said they get back to candidates within 2 weeks.

but because there are so many varied responses from different people (2 hrs after, 1 day after, 1 week after, etc.) people get paranoid if they've already waited 3 days and haven't gotten a call back (especially if their peers told them they got calls very quickly after)

it makes you think you might not be a top candidate…or worse, a reject 🙁 recruiting season is such a stressful time, sigh…

I got both call backs today and I interviewed on two days ago and yesterday. But my school is on an extremely fast timeline when it comes to interviewing. I have the office visits this coming week.
