    Hey there friends,

My firm has a growing Business Valuation department and they are trying pretty hard to pull some auditors off audit and onto BV full-time. I’m super interested in BV because the industry is growing faster than normal compliance is. However, I really like auditing. That is my problem. I know the partner in charge of BV and she seems to like me. Do you guys think it would be bad to ask if I could stay on some of my bigger audit clients while also doing some BV work as well?

They want people to switch full-time to BV but I want both …

    Thanks!

Hello – I'm in a BVAL group now in a midsized firm and pretty much 50% of the work we do is audit support work. I'm sure you know that Valuations group comes in as a specialist for an audit to help review the valuations whether its debt/equity work for level 3 investments, or level 1/2 securities and even impairment/business combinations work. We constantly work with auditors and we have to do the same documentation work as the audit team does, for them to attach to the audit. I think if you are bored with Audit in general, Bval is a good way to still be an auditor but also a finance analyst as well. It wont hurt you at this point, only improve your resume/skillset.
