    Hey Guys,

So I am starting my new job at a mid size public accounting firm and I’m going to be thrown right in the busy season. I am expecting to work an average of 55 hours a week including Saturday and study after work for an hour or two and all day Sunday. I want to take the AUD part of the exam and was thinking that my target date should be end of february.

My question is has anybody done busy season and study for the exam and still passed and if you have any tips?

I will be doing auditing work for the firm but I do not think the work would help me with the test, any thoughts?

    Thanks a bunch

    ALL DONE!!

I did it last year for Aud and passed and am doing it now for FAR. I listen to the audio on my way to work, which is 40 mins of study time, I do 30 questions at lunch, which is an hour, and at home, depending on what time I get home, I try and do 2-4 more hours. Weekends are 8 hours a day dedicated to studying. If you have to work Saturday, I would try and study before or after work and then sunday make it a 10 hour day.

It seems like a lot, and it is, but the time goes by so fast that when it's all said and done, you barely remember it LOL.

This time I put even more time in because if I fail FAR I lose Reg =(

So even during work hours I try and sneak in a question here or there and I listen to the audio all day.

But I sleep like a baby!!!! And Friday is date night – that never goes away!

As to studying during busy season or not I can't say. I wasn't able to do it but others have for sure.

However, your work will DEFINITELY help you with the auditing exam in my opinion. I started in an audit position December of 2013, and took Audit last in October of last year. I was a bit burnt out studying so I only spent about a week and a half on audit, doing no simulations and only half the questions in Becker. However, I got the best score yet on it mostly because I had seen so much of it already. With a mid-size firm (as I also work), you are likely going to see lots of engagement letters, different types of audit and accountants reports, etc. as I did and it will be quite helpful. I think anybody working in a mid-size firm in an audit position should take it last as there will be so much you pick up on the job. Maybe Big 4 where you will never see the engagement letter or work on reports (I presume you rarely do at the staff level but don't know for sure not having done it) there's not as much carryover but in your case I bet there will be.
