Hi NINJAs!
So I’ve looming around the forum a lot lately since work has been incredibly slow and this is supposed to be when we’re busy. While I don’t think there’s any immediate danger of me being laid off (my other senior coworkers watch youtube and I have too much of a work principle to do that), I don’t like this idleness. More often than not, I don’t have work and I always LOOK for work futilely.
Anyway, I expect to obtain my CPA license (hopefully) by my birthday and I realize that it might be time to move because I cannot keep stressing myself out and continue being annoyed that I don’t have work. I’m currently in investment accounting, where I honestly QC’d multiple portfolios in our 2 mutual funds. You would barely consider the work I perform accounting, but it pays pretty well for what I do (low fifties).
I have been in public accounting for collectively 7 months and honestly, my brief time there, doesn’t really make me want to go back. But it’s SO hard to find or qualify for a financial reporting position without those precious busy season experience. I really want to dive into a position that requires more analysis in my work duties. Also, I’m really seeking a job that would honestly pay more for what I can do because I KNOW I’m more capable than the tasks they assign me. This isn’t gloating, I’m almost a glorified quality checker and data entry. What is some advice that this forum can give me in regards to finding more financial analyst positions with a lack of work experience/public accounting? I will appreciate all comments.
