I went for an job interview for Bookkeeper/data entry into quick books. My background is I passed 4 parts of CPA exam ONLY)

It is a small construction company, that need someone in-house to do their bookkeeping in their quick books software and create monthly Income statement, balance sheet, C.F.etc..

usually they have outside accounting firm do their accounting services, but he is not happy because they just look at his bank statements, and create entries. So the owners of the company, needs more in-dept details about their business revenues and expenses. so this where my roles comes in play.

my question is can I do this without an CPA license, to mean is just an data entry job?

this might sound off-topic..Have you done bookkeeping yourself? if so, how hard is it. I do have basic knowledge of quickbooks, and this guy is new in business, doesn't have much trans in biz, he wants me to take all his 1 yr old trans from bank statement, billing receipts, and inserted in Quickbooks.

All you're doing is creating accounts that you can create financial statements. But you cannot sign them as a CPA. It's not hard at all. I have run a bookkeeping business for 17 years and decided I needed more than bookkeeper status. The only problem is that some businesses are too small to afford a Cpa but cannot. afford a bookkeeper on a consistent basis either.
