    If a prospective employer does a background check, how many years do they go back? I have an incident that happened 16 years ago. It wasn’t a felony or a major criminal charge, but it still doesn’t look good.

    “For this section report information regardless of whether the record in your case has been sealed, expunged, or otherwise stricken from the court record, or the charge was dismissed.”

    In my original post I said “mostly governmental, some private.” The reason private is included is because private companies often sub-contract to the government, and thus are subject to the same requirements.

    Yes justin, if you are seeking security clearance from the federal government, then they are going to ask about expunged offenses. I wouldn't exactly call that “many applications,” but whatever.
