Are there any production positions that CPAs can be good at?

    Hello there,

    I’ve noticed a lot of people on here trading information and advice about careers and salaries, etc. Have any of you found a position where you could do some business development in addition to accounting work?

    I recently left commercial real estate brokerage (I had to develop my own book of business and was responsible for 100% of my commissions) to pursue accounting at a small firm to gain the experience necessary to get the CPA designation. The knowledge is very useful but it seems that the technical work/sales ratio tilted too far in the other direction.

    Have any of you thought about using the accounting knowledge to be successful in other industries?
