Anyone work in derivatives?

Does anyone work in an accounting role that focuses on derivatives? I’ve been trying to get some information on this, but I don’t know anyone that has ever worked in this area.

Is this a good path to try to go down? It seems as if something fairly complicated/specialized like this might be worth looking into. Thanks for any help!

I worked in the controllers consolidated derivatives reporting team. I can't say that I was able to leverage knowledge of derivatives to other areas really, but I enjoyed learning about derivatives and hedge accounting.

I worked in Financial reporting for 3 years and helped compile the derivatives and hedging disclosure each quarter. I worked closely with the treasury team. It was interesting learning about the companies strategy in terms of managing FX swings. As you might know, the USD is super strong now. Good for our American operations, not so good for our overseas operations..

I actually got an offer for a Senior Treasury Analyst by the Treasurer, but I turned it down. Didn't want to be pigeon holed.

I would definitely look into treasury analyst/manager positions if you're interested in dealing with banks and financial instruments.
