Hey all, I was wondering if anybody here has ever had to or accepted an internship position after being done with school. If so, was it beneficial for you? Has it led to you getting a full time job wether with the same firm or another?

I’ve graduated two years ago, since then I’ve been working in audit but even in school I’ve always wanted to work tax. Past November I’ve departed from the audit firm, mainly concentrating on the exams. Having no relevant tax experience in public accounting, its been difficult to get interviews/offers in tax. Today, luckily I got an offer to work part time during the tax season in a top 10 southern california CPA firm. Fortunately its also paid, obviously a no brainer to accept the position, but would such short experience even help my resume/credentials much?

    Thanks 71

I have a friend who graduated with his MAcc but couldn't find a job. He started out with Robert Half contract positions then he joined PWc as a tax intern. A few months later we celebrate his permanent offer from PWc.

Right now I have experience, I have a MAcc, and passed the CPA but will accept an internship position. It's a great way to get your foot through the door

    CPA - Since 2015
    CISA - Smashed 2012
    CIA - Passed 2015

After I graduated I had a full-time paid internship and it was GREAT. I got to do Tax and Audit for a small firm and learned so much. They actually called me back this tax season to work but I moved and was unable to. If you can't get anything else definitely take the internship. Any experience is good experience.
