OK, I am a newly licensed CPA..Yay!! I’ve worked at a nice sized CPA firm, maybe 70 accountants and it seems no matter how hard I try I keep getting “below average” performance reviews. I don’t see myself as “below average” I just think I don’t work well with my big boss, but am always willing to improve. Because I am a high achiever (as we all are on this forum) it really sucks to get these reviews. I have heard that in professional firms, law, cpa, etc, that these type of reviews are typical to keep you on your toes? My co-workers all get poor reviews too, so I don’t think I am the problem. I think it is more of a gimmick, but it really depresses me. If you work in public accounting what are your performance reviews like? We have lost many accountants in the past few years and I don’t think it is because of busy season.
