Hi everyone, I just came across a job opportunity the other day that I am considering interviewing for. For some background, I work at a small CPA firm in my city doing audit and tax for about 6 years now. I had a few other jobs before this at other local CPA firms. I am happy at my job, they pay well, and have promoted me through the years.
The job opportunity that came up, is for a job in a private company in the accounting department. The hours are obviously better (9-5). The director of the department is leaving in several years, and the opportunity is for the person who comes into this role to learn from the director, and eventually takeover his position. Apparently, the director is the only person handling the accountant in this small firm. Think family office, for a financial services company. The pay will be roughly the same, but the opportunity is intriguing since the possibility of taking over the role is available. The hours are great and benefits are also very good.
Not sure if I should jump ship, or stay at my current firm. I like my firm, but would definitely consider leaving if the opportunity was right. Any advice would be great. Thanks !
