Hi all,
I am just looking for any type of career advice. I am in the process of taking my CPA test and currently work for a large industry company as a staff accountant. I have had prior experience in public accounting during last year’s busy season but unfortunately, due to lack of billable hours they were not able to put me on full time staff. However, I have always wanted to get back into public accounting because I truly enjoyed it. I took my current job because I had a connection and I was really in need of the full time salary it provided so I had no choice but to take it, even if it is not my desired career path. However, it seems like it is so tough to secure an entry level job in public unless you’re still in college (I am only 14 months out of college). Since most firms hire full time staff months in advance, it doesn’t seem likely (at least to me) a firm would want to interview me for a job that I wouldn’t be able to start for another 10 months or so when I am already employed. On the other hand, I do have direct connections with people in public if that would help. If anyone could give me some tips or advice on how to get back into public, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
