Advice: leave big 4 and come back?

First post and I’m looking for constructive criticism, so here it goes:

I graduated with a degree in finance and accounting, interned in audit with Big 4, and received an offer that would start in August. I’ve already taken 2 of the exams, but I have highly considered a career in medicine for a long time and I really want to give it a shot while I still can. Unfortunately, this would require me turning down my offer. Although I’m confident in my abilities, many competent career changers fail to get into med school. If this were to happen to me and I choose to go back into accounting, would it still be possible to get an offer with a Big 4 firm (probably a different one)? Any criticism and advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would honestly do a year at the Big 4 and then leave to pursue medicine if I were you. A year of experience would mean that if you do decide to come back to accounting, it would be ALOT easier to find a job vs if all you had done was an internship. Also, just think about what it takes to get through med school. are you good with bio and chem or do you hate it? Can you deal with blood and maybe gore? I know that might sound dumb but i know someone who is like a genius but quit being a doctor because she couldnt deal with the blood and etc.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that doing a year first might make a nice safety net, but then again, I wouldn't want to delay a career in medicine by an entire year. I haven't taken bio or chem since high school, but many people in post baccs are in the same boat. I took AP physics and BC calc in high school and did really well in them, so I think I could handle the coursework. I've done well with the small amount of gore I've been exposed to, but it hasn't been that much. Have you ever heard of anyone rejecting one B4 offer and taking receiving one later with a different firm?
