    Here’s my story.

I got my first job opportunity right after college in 2005 with a regional CPA firm which audits primarily government entities (those of you who know the industry will probably know what firm i am talking about). Similar to individuals that contribute to this forum, my experience on that firm was awful. I left the firm, and found a job in a corporation as a Financial Analyst, which i loved. As a result, I never looked for a public accounting job EVER!

Then, 2008 happened. My position as a Financial Analyst was terminated due to a merger with another company. I was redeployed to a compliance position within the same company. During my work within compliance, I was able to get my CPA license. I have moderately succeeded in the compliance world (i currently am an AVP), but I rather be working as a Financial Analyst like in 2008.

I’ve applied to Financial Analyst jobs, but with absolutely NO SUCCESS; hence, i am trying to become an Financial Analyst intern or an Accounting Intern. Is there any individual that has obtain an internship without being a college student? If so, how did you make it happen?

Any advice will be sincerely appreciated.

I doubt any company you'd actually really want to work for would hire a CPA with multiple years of experience for an internship position. I mean you've been in the workforce since 2005. It's super weird – have some confidence in yourself. Don't do it. Instead focus on why you aren't having success and do all that other stuff (network, keep applying,..etc.).

Honestly, if you really want to take the risk of an internship limited time span type role with no guaranteed job ofter, they call those Contract or Temp roles for experience people like yourself. Often times contract roles have interview processes that are less strict/lengthly (so easier to get your foot in the door), will often last longer than an internship and could convert to full-time or be extended multiple times. You find them the same way you find a normal job – thru job postings, recruiters and/or networking. Personally I wouldn't do it (esp without a very large emergency fund) but this makes much more sense than applying for internships.

as others have said, don't sell yourself short. companies will train. if you applied for an internship they'd prob assume u are some criminal and that's why you need to go for such a low position

Lost my job 1/31 of this year. Got out 8-10 resumes per day even on weekends. 42 job interviews in 8 weeks landed me a sweet financial analyst position. Be patient and keep at it. The only way you can claim “no success” is if you give up.
