Just curious if anyone provides bookkeeping services on the side for small businesses? If so, how much is the billing rate on average?

I know a girl that managed full-time schooling plus working in her bookkeeping business, and two kids. But she got to a point where she had to turn some clients around. I don't know what her billing rate was but she seemed to be doing very well.

My friend bills $35/hr. She does bookkeeping, payroll, and tax services for small businesses.

We recently hired an office manager who charges $40/hr for her services – she's not specifically a bookkeeper (although that's one thing she does), but instead offers a wide variety of services for her clients. We hired her for a few projects and to help implement some procedures.

She's built quite a little business around it…
