Hey I was wondering what is the average entry level accountant salary in nyc so I can have a good idea of what to reply during interviews asking for salary expectation

Am I correct in assuming it to be in the 50k range, thats based on my research on sites like glassdoor.com and pay scale

I am offered 60K plus benefits in one of the regional firms in NYC. I interviewed for a particular group though.

Not sure what service line you're in……….Big 4 Audit in NYC is $57,000 for all 4 firms this year. Mid tier firms typically pay a couple thousand less but pretty comparable.

Also Tax is $59,000 across all 4 of the Big 4, although you get a fair amount more if you have a Masters in Tax

@cpa066729 Yes, I started out in the 30's, can you believe it?! lol. I graduated during the economic crisis of 2008-09, so the job market was horrible at that time. But that's just getting basic ap clerk experience. I agree with @carebear that a general accountant for a small business might get any where from 53-64k. I'm planning on leaving my company because of money, limited opportunities and just being unhappy. I think once you stop caring, it's time to go.

    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    BEC - 84!!!!
AUD - 99!!!!!! CPA exam complete.

My first public accounting job was in an area with a low COL and paid under $20k/yr. 😐 So you guys starting in the 30's are still ok.

I always try to use the “I think salary is negotiable” type line – that way you don't have to know!
