Has anyone had any luck with Accountemps when you have no prior experience?

I am curious because I have an interview, but have seen bad reviews when you do not have any past accounting experience. I was also wondering if passing the cpa would help at all.

@cannotpassagain, I did the live classes and only watched the lectures once while taking notes. I did all of the multiple choice and sims twice. While doing the MCQ's I would make hundreds of notecards of all the formulas, definitions, etc. which was a lengthy process, but it worked. I worked as an assistant manager at a ski/snowboard shop and I have no related accounting experience, which sucks because I need it to get licensed. I also graduated in spring 2011 so alot of the information was still fresh to me. In order to study 8 hrs a day, I would do 2-3 hr sessions with some type of exercise in between, which I recommend because it keeps you focused and is a great stress reducer. I also drank atleast two 5-hour energy shots a day to get me throught it.

@danger22 man, that's what I call motivation. don't worry about having 0 accounting experience. i have a feeling you'll do well in the accounting field. just don't overwork yourself 😉

IMHO avoid all staffing agencies. They never got me anything and I have experience. Recruiters have quotas for the number of people they interview on the phone and/or in person. They get off on having hundreds of people they have screened so they can brag to clients. Whether they get you hired or the 10 other people they interviewed today doesn't matter.
