Hey everyone,
I was recently admitted as a student in the integrated Masters of Professional Accountancy program at the University of Texas at Austin, which is a 5 year program where one can get there BBA + MPA degrees in five years. Currently I just completed my second year of college with a 3.25 GPA and I have only taken 2 accounting courses so far (both of which I have gotten B+ in). The fairly low gpa is attributed to the fact that I took unnecessary classes that wasn’t part of my degree that ultimately screwed me over in the end but I am bouncing back slowly (from a 3.0).
I would like to see myself trying out for a Big 4 position for my junior year internship just to see if I like it but I am not sure if they will even consider me. Ideally I would like to go from Big 4 —> Some sort of consulting. From the other students in the program I hear that its all about fit and also Big 4 jobs/intenrships are pretty much guaranteed since we go to the #1 accounting school in the country and from others I hear its all about GPA (with a cutoff of 3.5 apparently to get an interview). As far as my current standing would the Big 4 even give me an interview considering my GPA?
Any advice, feedback, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You
