onmywhey, because “year-end” for audit can be 12/31, 6/30, 9/30, etc. I ended up on clients with these year-ends, which meant that busy season was basically January – October, outside of a relatively “normal” late March / early April.

    REG - 93 (7/30/13)
    BEC - 90 (8/19/13)
    AUD - 98 (8/31/13)
    FAR - 84 (10/19/13)

I don't work for a Big 4. In fact I work for a very little 3, meaning there are 2 CPA's in the office and one other person, and I can honestly say all the sleepless hours studying just got me ready to work 24-7. It's Sunday evening and I've worked non-stop since I left the office Friday at 7pm. The hours may suck, but I love every minute of it. I'm going to fall into bed in a few minutes, exhausted and proud that I've got a client ready for their audit and another client's 1120 done. So to answer your question, who works the most hours, they both do.

I work in audit in a smaller firm (<100 employees), and I really believe audit hours are way better than tax hours. Maybe I got pretty lucky with my clients, but my average busy season hours are no where close to tax busy season hours.

    FAR: 79 (Becker basic)
AUD: 68 (Becker basic), 91 (Becker, WTB, NINJA)
BEC: 64 (blind), 81 (Becker, WTB, NINJA)
REG: 68 (Becker basic), 73 (Becker, WTB, NINJA), REMATCH 2/27
