Starting with my 150

    Hey everyone,

I accepted an offer in Florida where they require 36 upper level accounting hours to be licensed as a CPA. I have my 150, but will be missing 6 upper level accounting courses. Does anyone know if a firm will take this into consideration? In many other states I would be completely fine to start because they don’t require so many upper level accounting courses, but my location preference seems to be more strict. As far as I know the prerequisite to start is to have 150…

Maybe I can do those two classes when it’s not busy season, online or something?

    Thanks!

A friend of mine went through this. She was a licensed CPA in Kansas. Actually, she was in the last group that took the paper tests. Her husband was relocated to Florida a few years ago and while she was licensed in Kansas, she needed more accounting credit hours to be licensed in Florida. She took online grad. level classes to fulfill the requirement. I remember that she got in touch with someone at the Florida State Board of Accountancy and was working directly with that person to ensure the classes she was choosing would fulfill the exact requirement she needed. She did hers online through one of the universities (accredited) that offers online graduate degrees.

    Best of luck!
