Hey Guys

I need your advice!! I am currently in grad school getting a master in tax but i already pass the cpa exam. The question is i have a below 3.00 gpa. Should i continue with the program. Does the big 4 look at your gpa if you pass the exam. Has anyone been in this position before? Thanks for the advice.

Not in your situation, but you can repeat a class to bring up your Gpa. Grad school is no different than the Cpa exam. You're in it…get it done. No real reason not to.

Sounds like the solution of someone who gets below a 3.0, just quit!

Ok, badgering aside, what % are you complete? ie: Mathematically can you get it above 3.0, 3.25, 3.5? For Campus recruiting, even with the CPA done, they still consider GPA. I mean, 3.2 GPA with CPA Done vs. 3.6 GPA with no CPA is one thing, but 2.8 or something with CPA done vs. 3.6 GPA with no CPA is another story.

If you've got plenty of work experience they're not likely to ask a GPA. If you have no professional experience your GPA is what they equate to learning your work ethic.

You may also want to consider licensing rules for your state. Here have to have 150 hours for a license but you can take the exam before hand. Which means you could pass the exam and still not qualify for a license. So if a license is something you want it may be worth it to continue.

Yes they look at your GPA. And why do u want to quit? Your school/ access to the firms recruiting programs is your best chance at getting ur foot in the door. There are tons of grads out there who've passed the CPA and would love to ( but wont ) get into the big4. Passing the CPA absolutely does not mean you will get an interview or even a second (or first) look.

I don't know if this is a dumb question or not but don't you already have a lot of money invested in grad school to just give up without getting a degree?

If you don't, then that would lead me to think you just started grad school and have plenty of time to bring up your GPA.
