@Jenuno01 – Yeah I have worked with multiple firms and no you don't get the same benefits from the smaller firms than you do the Big 4.

    7. Company Credit Card – Whether it be Diners or AMEX use it for everything business, limit free!

    8. Valet – Drive your car to the out of town audit? No worries, just use the Valet

    9. Tips – Act like a big shot and give tips to all the bell boys if you want…expense reimbursement for tips.

    10. Fast reimbursements – No waiting for months to get that reimbursement check, two weeks or less!

    11. Limo – Large audit team? No problem. Optional Limo service available. Travel in style.

    12. Health Program – Join a gym, buy a kayak, get reimbursed for staying healthy.

    13. Inventory observations – Where else can you be a first year and scare the crap out of a District Manager when you show up at a surprise inventory count?!

    14. Weekends – Have to work over a weekend, no worries fly a friend or anyone out for the weekend for free. Working weekends never felt so good.

    15. Publicly Traded Company's – You rub shoulders everyday with the biggest and the best. NETWORK and land that 100k job.

hahaha that's a positive way of looking at working for the Big 4. Since the day I decided to be an accountant I also decided I would not be working for Big 4 just bc I'm interested in other aspects of accounting and bc I did not want to follow my father's path.

Disclaimer: I am just posting the next comment not to be an a** but just to make sure ppl who don't get into the big 4 don't feel like they're missing out.

I get all those things #s 1 -15 plus other benefits (which I'm sure each company has its own little perks) and I don't work for the big 4. So if you don't get hired by the big 4 don't worry you can also find other company's out there with same benefits and more.

    Ps. I don't work insane hours =)

I have to admit I've always had the idea of working for any of the Big 4; however I know the chances are very remote because I'm not currently in public acg. and because the closest large city is 2 hours away and they would not even look at a student from my university even if this person has BAP, community service, and 4.0 GPA.

All those benefits sounds great! I wish the Big 4 did not exist so I did not have to think about it. I got excited when I went to Atlanta and saw the building named Ernst and Young…lol

Please know what you're doing as a Big4 representative. I took a Big4 manager to school, in front of the public client, by showing how a very easy testing technique revealed a possible 11-digit restatement for several years' worth of clean-opinion 10K filings.

    Couldn't pass again!

Reasons I will never work at a Big 4:

As it is now, I get to see my kids at 5pm. 'nuff said.

@CPAbyDay they all sound like great benefits almost exclusive to Big 4, but #13 sounds like a filler so you can get a nice even list of 15

@calisteph6 LOLOL this girl is super witty! good one

    1. Resume Booster – Whichever Big 4 you work at, you are in the upper 3% of Accounting Firms.

Okay this is the only reason to work for a Big 4.

    2. Company BlackBerry or Smartphone with unlimited tethering.

Ya and in exchange, you have given them your mind, body, and soul. They can contact you 24/7.

    3. 5 Star Hotels – Marriott, Starwood, Hilton, whichever.

I don't think it's worth working like a dog/slave and giving away your youth and health.

    4. Recruiting Events – Any recruiting event you are automatically a celebrity. Bask in its glory.

This doesn't happen too many times.

    5. Points – Hotel, Airline, Rental Car, Credit Card…you name it, they are yours.

    Same as number 3.

    6. Per Diem – $40-$50 a day – Spend it your way! Note: under $25 no receipt required!!

This is typical in any CPA firm if you have to travel, give or take 10 dollars or so.

    A 11/11 90
    R 8/11 86

I think the only good part is the resume builder…if it was so great they would have Like a 90% retention rate. What % actually stay 5+ years? And the working on a weekend perk sounds like brainwashing LOL

    NEW YORK- DONE
