    Hey guys,

I’m going to be interviewing at my college with PwC for an entry-level tax associate position. If anyone here has interviewed with with Pwc tax (or audit), would you please be so kind and share your interview tips with me? Do you remember what questions they ask? I’m so nervous about interviewing…I’m hoping that any insight y’all can provide with help put my nerves to ease.

    Thanks so much!

    big4hopeful,

I recently did the equivalent of an on-campus interview with a Big 4. I'm sure every interview will be slightly different but from what I have experienced with the several large firms in which I have interviewed is that it is less about interviewing the candidate and more about them wanting to learn your personality. With that being said, none of my interviews were what I expected… I expected the normal boring behavioral type interview questions and prepared myself accordingly. To my surprise each interview was basically a conversation with either a partner, senior manager, or higher level staff member. During our conversation we discussed my resume, grades, experiences, any questionable employment gaps, etc… But the main focus of the interview was to gain an understanding of my learning curve, leadership qualities and interpersonal communication skills. The interviewer wants to know if you will fit in at the firm, other than that your resume will speak for your qualifications.

So prepare yourself; be comfortable discussing your resume, know why you want to work in public accounting, be able to explain your interest in the specific firm, be confident and DO NOT FORGET TO SEND A THANK YOU NOTE to your interviewer. If they like you, expect a phone call or follow up email.

    Good luck,

I'm in the same position, big4 phone interview tomorrow and meeting with a partner for lunch on campus soon, best of luck to the both of us! 😮 From my friends who work at big4, the first interview is really basic questions, behavioral stuff.. what is the greatest challenge you faced at work or school? etc. Come up with stories you can twist to answer different questions. In my experience, the content of what you say is less important than the flow of the conversation you have with your interviewer.
