    Hi,

Can anyone share insights on the culture of the San Jose’s office? Are the people nice? How easy/difficult are promotions from associate to senior? Typically how many hours per day during busy season?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

my experience is very dated, i worked there from 2005 to 2008 so hopefully someone can get you a more timely response.

I only worked in tax when I was there, and I got into one of their smaller groups and our of the core tax group. The group I was on did small businesses and high net worth clients. I believe the group was called PFS, but has since become PCS private company services. I would suggest trying to find your way into the VC clients, you see and learn some cool stuff there and with it being in the heart of Silicon Valley you had an inroad to get in to that area if you so chose. I had several coworkers that made senior or manager then got plucked by on of their VC clients to join them as controller or on the in house accounting team.

The busy seasons were pretty rough. Even in the small group I was in we still were putting in 65 to 70 hours on average.
