I never heard of anyone ever getting an entry-level BIG 4 job by emailing them a resume. They typically recruit, like most other firms, straight out of schools. If your college has a shitty recruitment dept you might be out of luck to be honest unless you know someone already at a Big 4 that can help get you in. Public accounting job fairs are also a slim possibility but you get about 30 seconds of facetime and typically have 500+ other people to contend with so making an impression is really tough.

Good luck with it, job hunting is an aweful experience.

There're only 2 ways of getting into a Big 4 company — fresh out of school or as an experienced professional. Obviously, there's nothing in between.

You could try smaller public accounting companies.

Aside from the normal places to find jobs like the newspaper or indeed.com, trying going to a local accounting recruiter or something like Robert Half. Most firms that don't do on-campus recruiting still generally use some type of staffing service. Your local CPA society probably has job listings, too.

You can still call the local Big4 offices and ask for the recruiter's email address and send your resume. It never hurts to try but they generally only start inexperienced hires in January and August to coincide with campus recruiting, and unless one of their recruits takes another offer at the last minute, they only take people from the traditional campus recruiting pipeline.

I would suggest making a profile and submitting your resume on the careers page at each firm. What people said above is not completely true. I graduated with very good grades but didn't end up getting a job through recruiting at my college. I ended up submitting my resume and filling out a profile at a few of the big four without applying for a specific job, and ending up getting interviews and job offers at two of them! From working at the Big 4 firm I know they are ALWAYS looking for talented people who will fit into the firm. Do not be discouraged! You can even try emailing your resume to recruiting and express your interest. It worked well for me.

A lot of schools have a career center alumni membership that you can pay to take part in the on campus interviews as well as other on campus recruiting and job post information. This is something I myself may consider looking into when it comes time to move on from my current pub accting job.

On campus interviews are still the best method to get into big 4 or any job in your area that is recruiting at your alumni college.
