I got hired by a Big 4 firm. I had a terrible lapse of judgement and got charged with a misdemeanor DUI. I understand that I made a terrible mistake so I do not need a lecture. I am a good kid studying for my CPA and have never got into any trouble with the law. This my one and only charge EVER. My question is does anyone know what type of background question they ask during the onboard system? Also, do you think they will rescind its offer from me? I havent been convicted and will not be because this is my first offense and will more then likely get supervision. Any thoughts, comments, and whatever else is appreciated!

I went through the same exact situation. My big 4 firm requested that I write a one-page explanation of the event and complete an online safety driving course which was prepaid. Not bad at all in the scheme of things.

Depending how long it happened ago and the seriousness of the crime, you could get your record expunged. The lawyer will charge you an arm and a leg…and maybe your small intestine as well, but once its off your record, you usually can answer “no” to questions about arrests or crimes on most applications. Laws vary state by state, though.
